The Neuroplasticity Alliance: lists lots of clinics, doctors, therapists for brain injury (and neurodegenerative disease, learning disabilities, etc) — a two person team (including myself) trying to help those with injuries find help faster. www.npallies.org. @neuroplasticityalliance

Concussion/ brain injury PT therapy: combination of physical, vestibular, vision, cognitive. My PT saved my life! You might need an individual therapist for some of these categories- I also had a vision therapist and speech language pathologist come to my house for treatment. Each city will have different resources in this category. Try to find a PT trained in concussions.

Book: The Ghost in my Brain, by Clark Elliott. This book changed my life. He explained spot on what it’s like to be in my head. Made me feel understood. You must read! and make your family members read. He credits 2 clinicians with getting his life back. Their contact info is below, and I see both.

Mind Eye Institute, Dr Deborah Zelinsky, 1414 Techny Rd, Northbrook, IL 60062 847-501-2020 Genius doctor who syncs up your eyes, ears, and brain (even if you don’t think you have vision problems) Breakthrough! I have seen Dr Z three times in 2021- I credit huge parts of my recovery to her! Book an appointment ASAP https://mindeye.com/

Donalee Markus, PhD, Designs for Strong Minds– also outside Chicago near Dr Z- brilliant cognitive therapist. She can do phone consults and send you homework to do from afar but preferable to see her in person once at first. https://www.designsforstrongminds.com/

Amy Lukas- Reflex Integration- Amy’s bodywork is mindblowing I don’t know how to explain. Ask Donalee if she thinks you need to see Amy as well. Amy is near Donalee and Dr Z.. how do these three brilliant women all exist a few miles from each other in Chicago suburbs?! One stop shop, almost. http://www.essentialelementstherapy.com/

Dr. Stephen Kung, neurologist, Blue Sky Neurology Denver. He is great- by far the most helpful neurologist I have found! Don’t give up if your neurologist isn’t helpful- most aren’t. Dr Kung makes everything very easy. He will do phone consults. https://blueskyneurology.com/

Stellate Ganglion Block- for anxiety/PTSD. Pioneered by Dr. Eugene Lipov in Chicago. He created Stella Centers across the country to get this shot in the neck. Treatment has been around for a long time for pain, but newer for neurological outcomes. I got this very recently and still determining the effects- BUT the next morning my brain literally felt cleaned out, junk removed, and so there was space to move and flow in my brain. https://stellacenter.com/

Cognitive FX, Provo, Utah. 385-375-8590 I have not been, but it gets excellent reviews. Functional MRI + a week of various therapies

Book: The Brain’s Way of Healing by Norman Doidge. This book is a little more dense than Ghost in my Brain so I might not have been able to read it in my first couple years of recovery- but it is about neuroplasticity and its aaaamazing. So many researchers and doctors to look up after reading. I plan to read Norman’s other book after.

Don’t give up!!
